  • Our article ” Defect-influenced particle advection in highly confined liquid crystal flows” was published in Soft Matter as cover article. We found that the topological defects in nematic liquid crystals in combination with confinement give rise to non-monotonous advection behaviour.
  • The next oxDNA User and Developer Workshop will take place from Monday, 2nd until Thursday, 5th September 2024. More details will follow soon!
  • We began work on the next generation of coarse-grained DNA and RNA model oxDNA3, which will include aspects of sequence-specific curvature and elasticity. This is a three-year project funded by EPSRC.
  • Our article “Controllable particle migration in liquid crystal flows“was published in Soft Matter. It reports new patterns of preferential migration in pressure driven flow in nematic liquid crystals similar to, but also in striking contrast to the well-known Segré-Silberberg effect.
  • Our article “Heterogenous migration routes of DNA triplet repeat slip-outs” was published in Biophysical Reports. We characterise the kinetics of branch migration using single-molecule spectroscopy and coarse-grained modelling.
  • Magdalena Lesniewska obtained the price for the best oral presentation at the British Liquid Crystal Society Annual Meeting held online from 21st – 24th June 2021. A report is published in Liquid Crystals Today.
